Create a banner with multiple images in Canva

Use this guide to learn how to access and use Canva for Education to create a custom design for a banner, using a grid to accommodate multiple images.

How to add Canva to My essentials

  • Log in to the DoE staff portal.
  • Under My essentials, click on the Add new essential icon.
  • You will be taken to the add essentials page where you can search for Canva for Education.
  • Once located, click on ADD.

Create a design in Canva

  • Launch Canva for Education.
  • Click on Create a design.

  • Select Custom size.
  • Reference Image dimensions and file sizes for the correct banner dimensions based on your website’s Theme.
  • Enter the specified pixel width and height dimensions. 
  • Click on Create new design.

  • Click on Elements.
  • Scroll down to Grids.
  • Click on See all.

  • Select your preferred grid layout

  • Click on Uploads.

  • Click on Upload files (Images).

  • Click and drag an image to place it on your preferred grid section, then repeat.

  • You can now select the image to customise it, such as reduce the spacing in between the pictures.

  • To adjust the background colour seen in between the pictures, click on Position, then under Layers select the rectangle colour panel, then the round colour to choose a new colour. To match it to your website, learn how to check the colour.

  • Click on File.
  • Click on the pencil to edit the filename.
  • Click on Download.

  • Select Limit file size to, then enter 200 KB.
  • Click on Download.
