Move a page

Use this guide to move a content page on your website.

Before you start

  • Don't move Global pages or News, Album, Events and Newsletter pages.
  • Authors do not have permissions to move pages. Ensure you have approver status to move pages within the site.

Step 1: Navigate to Home

  • Your school's home page will already be selected.

Step 2: Select your page

  • Navigate to the page you want to move.
  • Select the icon to the left of the page name. The tick will appear and your selection will turn blue.
  • From the menu bar select Manage Publication and Unpublish now.
  • Once this is unpublished, check on the live site the page is no longer showing.
  • Then in Sites, select the page again and select Move in the menu bar that appears across the top of the screen.

Step 3: Rename page – optional

  • Change the Page title after move and Page name after move fields if necessary.
  • The page title and page name must be the same.
  • The page title is used for the navigation menu and main heading within the page.
  • The page name is used for the page URL.
  • Only use lower case letters, numbers and hyphens in the page name. Other characters – like spaces, question marks, percent signs, commas and ampersands – will cause issues.
  • Select Next button to continue.

Step 4: Select destination

  • Navigate to the parent page of your content page.
  • Select the icon to the left of the page name. The tick will appear and your selection will turn blue.
  • If the option is available, select Move in the top right and continue to Step 5.
  • Otherwise, select Next where you will confirm if pages linking to your page should be adjusted and republished.

  • Make sure all available boxes are selected.
  • Select Move to continue.

  • You have successfully moved your page.

Troubleshooting

  • If the option to Move page does not appear you may be trying to move a Must have page that cannot be moved.
