Virtual training

Our virtual training videos allow you to follow along with the trainer at your own speed and on your own schedule to learn about Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) for the School Website Service.

If you're new to AEM, follow the self-paced learning from the beginning. If you need a refresher, simply access the video which covers the topic of interest. Once you've covered the basics, you can move onto the more advanced topics.

The introductory virtual training course comprises of eight videos, covering the following topics:

  1. Introduction to School Website Service using AEM
    Introducing the training session, what will be covered, along with finding your way around Adobe Experience Manager.
  2. Introduction to AEM
    Finding your way around the AEM interface, and the differences between Sites and Assets.
  3. Documents and images
    Rundown of type of permissions for AEM, tips on creating content and setting the scene, preparing for editing your website, suggested file structure for documents and pages, suggested file types and file sizes.
  4. Uploading an asset
    Demonstration of uploading a document or image (assets) to AEM, Including the duplicate upload warning.
  5. Folders, archiving, moving or deleting assets
    Demonstration of creating a folder, using an archive approach to deleting assets, and an overview of renaming and moving assets within AEM.
  6. Home page and components
    Overview of editing your home page in AEM and identifying components on your homepage, demonstration of popular components and ways to configure them (Hero Banner, Divider, Card, Download Box, and Column Control), and working with links to navigate pages.
  7. Content pages, newsletters, events and albums
    Overview of creating content pages, newsletters, events and albums.
  8. Publishing, troubleshooting and support
    Overview of publishing, support available for AEM and how to access these services, known system quirks to be aware of, and tips for a strong website.
  9. Practical Example: Upload policies to the rules and policies page
    See how to upload your policy documents to the rules and policies page.

The advanced virtual training course comprises of six videos, covering the following topics:

  1. Add a video from Brightcove
    Learn how to upload your video to Brightcove and then use it on your school website.
  2. Hero banner
    Learn about using the hero banner and the different layouts and options available.
  3. Page types used in the school website
    Learn about the page types you'll use for your school website. We will cover the content page, news articles, newsletters, events and album templates.
  4. The card component
    Learn about the card component layouts and options and how it can be used on your page with or without column control.
  5. The divider component
    Learn about using the divider component on the homepage, full-width template, plus the different styles and options of this component.
  6. The homepage properties
    Learn about the options in the homepage that you can set, including the mega-nav, quicklinks, plus the school metadata options such as the school name, motto, latitude and longitude and contact information.
